Visconti Castle in Pandino
The Visconti Castle in Pandino represents one of the best examples of fortified architecture of the Visconti family (14th Century).
Built more ore less in 1355 because the Lord of Milan Bernabò Visconti wanted to have a country house to go hunting, the Visconti Castle in Pandino represents one of the best examples of fortified architecture of the Visconti family (14th Century).
Some recent restoration works made visible the majority of the original decorations. The layout is similar to several other fortified buildings of the same period: a square layout with four towers in the corners, a courtyard with some arcades and a loggia. The castle can still boast the original decoration of the arcades, of the rooms and of the loggia, with floral and geometrical patterns. The building nowadays belongs to the Municipality and it hosts, in the ancient stables’ area, the library. Pandino Castle is also the ideal location for several cultural events, like photo and painting exhibitions.
