Cremona and its river
The river Po is longer than what you think
The Po river is the longest river in Italy and it has a big floodplain. Its spring is in Piedmont and it runs through five important towns: Turin, Pavia, Piacenza and Cremona. It also marks the border among Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Veneto. In Cremona, in Summer, are regularly organized cruises and some special events on the river. For Cremona, the river has always been a strategic element of economic, cultural, tourist and social development.
Several Cremona's characteristics are connected to the presence of the river which, with its slow rhythm, makes the land rich and fertile. You can cross it using your canoe or sitting comfortably on a ship.
