Fine Arts Museum
The main part of the “Ala Ponzone” museum was created thanks to a donation by the marquis Ala Ponzone (1842) and has been enriched with works from former churches and legacies. Since 1928 it has been based in Palazzo Affaitati, an example of the 16th century cremonese architecture. In the Fine Arts Museum are exposed works by mainly cremonese artists from the 15th to the 20th centuries and some works by famous painters such as Caravaggio and Arcimboldi.
Le Stanze per la musica
Carlo Alberto Carutti’s collection is one of today’s most remarkable sets of plucked string-instruments. These instruments are particularly outstanding for their rarity, quality and state of preservation. Besides some representative examples of violins, violas, kits, hurdy-gurdies and viola d’amore, the collection counts about fifty plucked string-instruments and includes instruments such as English-guitars, battente-guitars, mandolines and some lutes dating back to 17th, 18th, 19th centuries.
