Stradivari Festival 2024
The first and most important musical event at the MdV
An edition of STRADIVARIfestival that opens the doors of the Giovanni Arvedi Auditorium to the world's most acclaimed stars of the bow, some making their absolute debut at the festival, but which also looks to the future by creating a bridge with the recent Concorso Città di Cremona, the violin performance prize that in June brought the most promising bowing talents under the Torrazzo.
It will be the winner herself, 18-year-old Yuki Serino, who will open the programme with one of Cremona's best musicians, cellist Giovanni Gnocchi, who is one of the festival's resident artists, and a quintet of the best young musicians of the latest generation grouped under the name Ensemble Cremona-Salzburg.
Then the return of one of the most iconic violinists of our time, Gidon Kremer, this time in a trio, with a highly original programme straddling the classical and the contemporary, to continue with an exciting close confrontation between two of Europe's most renowned chamber orchestras, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra and the Camerata Bern.
The young members of the Agon Ensemble return with a new residency project, promoting the festival debut of a violist trained in Cremona who is one of the best on the Italian scene, Alfredo Zamarra, soloist of the evening together with the highly acclaimed violinist Marc Bouchkov.
To seal the long-awaited debut on the Arvedi stage of star Janine Jansen, a concentrate of bravura and musicality in its pure
A festival that, as always, will have the added value of offering the public exceptional performers with equally important historical instruments, from Jansen's own Stradivari violin to the Stradivari cello that once belonged to the legendary Jacqueline du Pré and is now played by Hungarian virtuoso Istvan Vardai, soloist of the Franz Listz Chamber Orchestra.
To seal the long-awaited debut on the Arvedi stage of star Janine Jansen, a concentrate of bravura and musicality in its purest state.
